Corr Announces More than $2.3 Million in State Funding for Local Roads
3/9/2017
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Michael Corr (R-Montgomery) today announced the residents in the five municipalities that are partially or totally inside the 150th Legislative District he represents will share more than $2.3 million in state funding for local road and bridge projects.

“Roads and bridges serve an essential function in our communities,” Corr said. “Local families rely on our roads and bridges to get to work, send their children to school and engage in various other activities.”

The more than $2.3 million in state funding was made possible by Act 89 of 2013, a state law that raised additional revenue for state and local road and bridge projects. Corr was not in office when the law was approved, but he is pleased to see the new dollars benefit local motorists.

“Many of these infrastructure projects may not have been possible without this important funding,” Corr said.

The following municipalities will receive the amounts identified:
  • Collegeville Borough:$135,000.
  • Lower Providence Township:$753,000.
  • Skippack Township:$400,000.
  • Upper Providence Township:$655,000.
  • West Norriton Township:$409,000.
The local funding was part of nearly $466.2 million from liquid fuels revenue that will be distributed to municipalities across Pennsylvania to invest in local roads, marking a 5 percent increase, or $20.9 million, compared to last year.

This funding will allow municipalities to help pay for expenses such as snow removal and road repaving. More than 60 percent of public roads in Pennsylvania are maintained by local governments. The formula for payments is based on a municipality’s population and miles of locally owned roads.

The additional funding was distributed to certified municipalities on March 1.
